For the first time in about two years, Wa-suta have a new single! “Shani Muni Ikiru! (遮二無二 生きる！)” puts the idol group in some less fantastical settings than we’ve seen. We also get few views of the girls out of their highly stylized costumes and in something a little more casual. The girls seem to be around the docks of small town Japan, where they haunt the local cafe and beaches (and Ruka plucks her guitar in the salt air). “Shani Muni Ikiru!” seems to be a fantasy where the girls of Wa-suta play “what-if” the never joined the group. Nanase takes her crew down to the beach where they can yell their wishes into the ocean, and (I guess) the fivesome wish to become the idol group that we all know and love. The girls still get their dance shot with their cat themed costumes on a particularly green pasture, so you can scratch that itch. “Shani Muni Ikiru!” goes on sale October 30, 2019.
The World Standard, stylized as Wa–suta (わーすた), is a 5-member group formed on March 29, 2015, as iDOL Street’s fourth idol group. The group’s image is described as a digital age idol generation that works towards the world to spread “kawaii japan idol” culture using social media and “real idol” activities. Wa-suta’s current lineup includes members Sakamoto Hazuki (坂元 葉月), Hirokawa Nanase (廣川 奈々聖), Matsuda Miri (松田 美里), Kodama Ririka (小玉 梨々華), and Mishina Ruka (三品 瑠香).
