New LDH music from Happiness hit the airwaves today. “Chao Chao” put the girls in a trap influenced hard hip hop track perfect for their particular set of talent. Filming in the ornate stairways and railways of Los Angeles’s historic Bradbury Building (Blade Runner, 500 Days of Summer, etc.) and Santa Monica’s Pacific Park, Happiness make the West Coast look a bit sexier than I remember. The transition from black&white to color about midway through the PV comes at a great time: it’s a bit of a waste to film in the Bradbury building only to lose the gorgeous wood and black metal interior. The color serves the girls well in Santa Monica where the candy colored rides of the Pier’s amusement park wouldn’t be well served in a desaturated rendering. I know, we have a set of gorgeously talented girls on video and I’m rambling on about hardwood interiors and orange colored roller coaster. Whatever the reasons may be, I found myself really enjoying my listen through of “Chao Chao”. You can get your own copy of Happiness’s 13th single when it hits store shelves on September 11, 2019.
