This week in music 10.29.2014

This week’s featured releases come from Kikkawa You and Morning Musume ’14

Kikkawa You – “Amai Melody / “Suki” no Kazoekata

First up this week we have Kikkawa You, who is releasing her latest single this week. I was a pretty big fan of her previous single “Urahara Temptation / Ii Jan” and I have to say, this one is pretty great too. These past few singles have seen the return of the Kikkawa You sound that we fell in love with when she debuted. Gone is the horrible Vocaloid period and now we can just enjoy Kikka sing without any horrible instrumental arrangements or vocal effects. I highly recommend that everyone check this single out this week.

Morning Musume ’14 – “14shou ~The Message~

Also this week, we have a new album from Morning Musume ’14. I’m never really sure if it’s worth it to write about albums in these articles because they are kinda just retreads of discographies for the most part. In this case, I think it’s worth talking about though because there has been some renewed interest in Morning Musume lately. Like most albums, “14shou ~The Message~” collects the last year or so of Morning Musume’s music, along with a couple new songs for the diehards. Basically if you’re just getting into or perhaps coming back to the Morning Musume fandom, grab this album, “13 Colorful Character” and “The Best! ~Updated Morning Musume~” and you’re pretty much golden…err colorful (bad fandom jokes).

ALSO THIS WEEK:

“EPEP EP” by Bellring Shoujo Heart
Dan Dan Dubi Zuba!” by Dream5 and Buri Taichou
Boku-Note” by FantaRhyme
Pride” by Lyrical School

Also this week, Dream5 have a truly bizarre new single coming out, FantaRhyme have what sounds like a fantastic new single that I’m going to have to figure out how to get a hold of and finally, for all of you idol rap fans out there (it’s getting kinda tired), Lyrical School deliver a new single that is sure to scratch that itch.

If you missed any of the last few weeks’ worth of new music you can check out past editions of This Week in Music here.
