This week in music 09.17.2014

This week’s lone featured release comes from Team Makenki.

Team Makenki – “Mugen Fly High!!

I wasn’t actually going to write a “This week in music” this week because on the one hand, I didn’t really have anything interesting to say about the other releases and I also didn’t realize that this particular single was coming out this week. Team Makenki is a group comprised of soloist Kikkawa You and the idol groups Up Up Girls (Kari) and The Possible. All members of the unit have been a part of Hello! Project in the past so this collaboration probably isn’t as out of left field as some of you are thinking.

Anyway, how about that song? It’s super hype and they somehow managed to incorporate three different styles of vocal delivery without it sounding as terrible as it probably should. That’s pretty impressive and as a fan of Kikkawa You and Up Up Girls, I’m pretty stoked that they’re working together. So yeah, great song and I really hope this unit is going to stick around and release more music because I’m liking where things are going so far. Definitely check this single out this week.

Yuujou Express” by ALLOVER
Unicorn Parade” by Cupitron
Otenba Junction” by Miniature Garden
Jumpin’! Dancin’!” by Prizmmy☆
Happy Poppy!!” by Shibuya Dominion

If you’re looking for more hype music then I’d seriously recommend checking Cupitron out. They’re a pretty new group and their second single which is out this week is really solid. Everything else this week was also pretty decent and worth your time, in my opinion. All of the releases probably deserve some kind of mention for various good reasons but I’m not invested in these particular groups enough to give an interesting enough impression. Oh well, until next time.

If you missed any of the last few weeks’ worth of new music you can check out past editions of This Week in Music here.
