This Week in Music 08.01.2012

August is upon us and what a crazy month of releases it is sure to be. We’re easing into it this week though with a solitary release from AKS.

Speaking of AKS, Watanabe Mayu’s solo single “Otona Jelly Beans” isn’t doing so hot at the time of writing this. Something that I suppose we should have seen coming. Oh well, I’m sure Aki-P won’t be losing too much sleep over it.

Anyway, let’s take a look at what we have to look forward to this week.

NO NAME – “Kibou ni Tsuite”

Our sole release for the week is AKS sub-unit NO NAME (laziest name for a group ever) and their single “Kibou ni Tsuite”. Those of you who watched the AKB0048 anime will be familiar with the songs on this release as they are featured in the anime’s opening and ending sequences. Also included on the CD is a third song titled “Niji no Ressha”. I’m personally a pretty big fan of “Kibou ni Tsuite”, the anime’s opening song but I’m not really feeling “Yume wa Nandomo Umarekawaru”. Both songs are pleasant enough though and I’d recommend checking this release out if you haven’t heard the songs before. There’s some rumblings among the NSK staff of possibly doing a review of the “Kibou ni Tsuite” PV so watch out for that if it does end up happening.

That wraps things up for this week. Check back next week for releases from both Idoling!!! and NMB48.
