This week in music 03.26.2014

This week’s featured releases come from NMB48 and Passpo.

NMB48 – “Takane no Ringo

We’re continuing the breakneck pace of new 48G releases this week and next up to bat is NMB48. It’s hard for me to explaining my opinion of “Takane no Ringo” if I’m honest. I don’t particularly hate the song but I can’t say it does much to endear itself to me either. I guess you could say it’s pretty safe, if we want to dust down that classic descriptor for another outing. In my opinion NMB48 can do a lot better but hey, I’m not writing the music so what do I know. All I know is that this one isn’t really for me so I guess I’ll just have to wait and see what comes next, which I’m guessing will be some time in July or so.

Passpo – “Perfect Sky”

Okay so it’s like…9am on Monday morning over here. I’ve been up all night (as usual) and I guess I have to re-write this entire section because Passpo just released the PV for their new single “Perfect Sky” (link above when I can find a non-live streaming source). There’s a perfect timing joke in there somewhere but I digress. Well, we were pretty hyped up for this song and I have to say I think they delivered on it. You can argue that it’s not complex enough or whatever but you probably had unreasonable expectations from a group of girls who have only spent a few months properly learning how to play their instruments. The bottom line is that the song works well, is catchy and I am more than confident that it can actually be pulled off in a live setting (I’m looking at you “Give Me Five!”). I hope that this becomes a recurring theme.

“Fairies” by Fairies
“AWAKE ~LinQ Daini Gakushou~” by LinQ
“Team N 3rd Stage “Koko ni Datte Tenshi wa Iru”” by NMB48
“Chouzetsu Shoujo Best 2010-2014” by Super Girls
Tabidachi Kirari.” by Tsuri Bit

A lot of albums coming out this week by the look of things. You should check out NMB48’s first (and quite possibly last at the rate things are going) original stage album I guess because you’ve probably got all of the others anyway and need it for your collection. Apart from that I would definitely recommend giving LinQ’s new album some of your time and am I’m also rather partial to the new Tsuri Bit single as well. Until next week.

If you missed any of the last few weeks’ worth of new music you can check out past editions of This Week in Music here.
