Same Song, New Maeda

So 7 ji 12 pun Hatsukoi is one of my favorite AKB songs. It has been since the first time I saw it performed. Maeda Atsuko [White] was in the center along with two of my other favorite Team A members, Komatani Hitomi [Pink] and Ohe Tomomi [Blue].

Recently Dae was nice enough to send me a link an updated version of the song being performed at the Yoyogi Concert.

The song is still fantastic, but now the perfomance contained three of my current favorite members. Ohta Aika [Pink] and Komori Mika [Blue] fill in the spots from the graduated members. And Maeda Ami [White] fills the spot for center.

There hasn’t been that many opportunities to see Maeda Ami like this, with solo lines and as the center of a dance routine. And I can honestly say this is the first time I’ve definitively heard her singing. It works great for me. I don’t know what it is about her. She’s got kind of an awkward look. Her eyebrows are relatively thick. Her two front teeth are pronounced making the shape of her mouth sheepish. She’s tall and lanky. But for some reason with her, I feel like I’m watching an angel. I’ve even gone as far as to consider her as the future of AKB.

But I guess for now, I’ll have to wait and see.
