For their latest new mini album, Wa-suta lead things off with the pun-tastic “Galbi (Girls, Be) Ambitious”. The staple of Korean BBQ meats, and all BBQ meats in general, play a central part on this lead track. Wa-suta, with some of the most deliciously whacked out idol outfits in the scene today, spin the immortal parting words from William S. Clark (“Boys, be ambitious”) into both “Girls, be ambitious” and “Galbi ambitious” – which sound similar to the Japanese ear. After all that explaining, I have just enough time to mention that the schizophrenia of styles espoused by Wa-suta in this offering makes delicious sense. I’m particular to the vamping funk bits, but I could be talked into loving the disco chorus. Along the way, Wa-suta will introduce you to the different cuts of meat offered in the Korean/Japanese BBQ experience. Damn, now I’m hungry. The new mini-album from Wa-suta, “GIRLS, BE AMBITIOUS” goes on sale Halloween 2018.
