Rounding out the UP UP GIRLS’s latest release we have the promotional video to “Be a Girl”. The song opens mysteriously with a block of a five-shot of the group superimposed over the eyes of the members. The effect of the visual is that of an UP UP GIRL wearing big blocker sunglasses. The background colors shift, the member face rotates through the group until the block colors match and reach synchronicity. I don’t know if “Be a Girl” is low-concept or so high-concept that I don’t need to duck and cover. I’m sure there’s something to be said about identity within the group clashing with identity of self, but I’ll leave that to someone else. In any case, the electro beats of “Be a Girl” wash over like ocean waves leaving one with an upbeat yet chill track, which I suppose is a break from the mania of “Jojo Dokonjo”. “Jojo Dokonjo / Be a Girl” will be at your favorite retailer on November 28, 2017.
