Now there are summer promotional videos, and then there are summer promotional videos. In other words, there are two prevailing outfits de rigueur: the swimsuit and the yukata. Tsubaki Factory opts for the second of these two options for their third PV from their upcoming fourth single. “Konya Dake Ukaretakatta” features a composition by Nakajima Takui (who brought you many of Hello! Projects latest jams). From the ska rhythms of its verse to the slap bass driven choruses, “Konya Dake Ukaretakatta” certainly carries much ear worm potential. Much like like the group’s other summer A-side “On a date, I’d like to shower at least twice and go.”, “Only for tonight I wanted to be playful” keeps the awkwardness of a teen’s summer of love as a main theme thanks to the expert lyrics from lyricist Kodama Ameko. Not sparing expense, Tsubaki Factory get thrown into a temple location shoot suitable to their yukata and a matsuri decorated set that allows the girls to don the bare shoulders and sequins of their performance outfits. Not to be lost in the shuffle, I think the girls do an excellent job in the drama moments of the promotional video as they meet and enjoy themselves at the festival. “Date no Hi wa Nido Kurai Shower Shite Dekaketai / Junjou cm (centimeter)/ Konya Dake Ukaretakatta” hits record stores on July 18, 2018.
