Promoting their first full length album, the department store girls of Qumali Depart get a a disco flavored tune in order with the release of “Udagawa Yokkyuu (ウダガワ・ヨッキュー)”. A top floor cafe and the streets of Shibuya play host to Qumali Depart as they dance their way through jumping bass lines of the song. Aside from their performance outfits, the girls get to try on some fashionable attire in their solo shots. Along with the fashion shots, the girls get some great solo shots singing into a vintage microphone on the overpasses high above traffic at night. The camera zooms and pans with its own energy, and this movement infuses “Udagawa Yokkyuu” with a sense of excitement missing from more bland PVs in the genre. “Udagawa Yokkyuu” is probably the best thing I’ve seen today and goes a long way to bolster my already high impression of Qumali Depart. You can find “Udagawa Yokkyuu” on Qumali Depart’s 1st album “Kokodepa!”, on sale now.
