PassCode’s third single “Ray” starts things off with a guitar lead and a keyboard riffing like it’s a 1988 Amiga. The girls find themselves in a grey room surrounded by the musicians and the sounds. PassCode behave much more like idols here- a pleasant melody and a few choreographed moves exposes the nature of the group. The scream and the processed vocals are kept to a minimum, perhaps to court a wider audience. PassCode don’t seem intent on beating the listener senseless with punchy rhythms and brutal shifts in tempo and feel. What’s left is the melodic sensibility of “Ray” highlighted with the persistent keyboard tones. The matching outfits are a bit military school and a bit bondage with high collars, exposed midriffs and shiny zippers adorning the woolen fabric. Although I give you that description, I should note that the girls look pretty darn great. Fireworks will happen here in “Ray”, and before you know it the screen will be alit. The 3rd single release from PassCode launches out on May 23, 2018.
