Back with a dip into their “4” album, we have Oyasumi Hologram’s “colors”. Kanami and Hachigatsu-chan start their fourth album with these grooves that are best described as “indie rock”. The jagged guitar rhythms are stripped down to the barest to produce the disjointed sounds. The girls trade vocals and harmonize roughly (one might say “unproduced”), and this adds to the charm of the project. The promotional video starts things out in black and white, but you soon learn that there are two images overlapped as the color shots begin to take over the screen from the outside in. At its heart, “colors” is a performance video, and Oyasumi Hologram’s choreography free movements will either charm you or strike you as unprofessional for the same reasons. Then again, I’m sure Oyasumi Hologram is quite the polarizing group for most of us out there. You can find “colors” on Oyasumi Hologram’s forthcoming “4” album on May 23, 2018 or on digital release through the group’s Spotify or iTunes page.
