New music from Kamiyado should cast your cute stuffed bears in a new light. “Grizzly ni osowa retara♡ (グリズリーに襲われたら♡)” dresses the fivesome (in I believe their first proper PV with new member Kira) in the frilliest of frilly iwth lace veils and ribbons everywhere for a decadent afternoon tea, and I’m into this look. But about halfway through, the titular grizzly bear shows up to break up the party. We don’t actually see any mayhem, but we see the aftermath: The colors become washed out, the girls are bloodied up, their table trashed, and onscreen graphics that say “Help Me!”. I don’t think I’ve been secretive about it on Twitter, but I’ve been getting into Kamiyado lately. This PV comes at a great time (for me). We should talk a bit about the music here. Kiyoshi Ryujin, who you might remember from Kiyoshi Ryujin 25, crafts a bit of a fantasia with ever ascending chords and cute flourishes that sound like Samantha twitching her nose. Given the quality of the product here, I think I would be drawn to this PV even if I didn’t take a healthy interest in Kamiyado. Intricate, cute, and enjoyable at every turn, I give Kamiyado’s “Grizzly ni osawa retara” my recommendation. Give it a listen now!
Kamiyado (神宿) is a Harajuku based Japanese idol group formed in September 2014. They are also known as KMYD. The origin of their name is a combination of the kanjis 神 (“kami”) from Meiji Shrine (明治神宮) and 宿 (“yado”) from Harajuku (原宿). The acronym for KMYD is Kawaii (可愛い！) Max (全力！) Yell (応援！) Dream (夢！). Kamiyado’s lineup currently includes Hashima Miki (羽島みき), Koyama Hina (小山ひな), Hashima Mei (羽島めい), Ichinose Mika (一ノ瀬みか), and Shiomi Kira (塩見きら).
