A new promotional video from JyuJyu made it to YouTube today. I admit I have a bit of a crush on JyuJyu that I can’t really explain. Today’s offering is “Kumo no ito”, a darkly lit affair with a black melody to fit the mood. A dance shot lies at the heart of “Kumo no ito” light choreography that resembles respiratory arrest and last rites. Menacing guitars dense as a forest provide a dark backdrop to the stark harmony of the chorus. Really, “Kumo no ito” is a song that’s meant to be listened to at full volume, and it punches my inner 15 year-old goth right in the solar plexus. Being primarily a dance shot PV, the curtains of darkness and a few nifty composite shots are about all that are worth comment. Then again, this isn’t the kind of song that warrants a brightly lit PV set in Harajuku … JyuJyu are still on the fringe of the idol genre, after all. Regardless, I love it. You can buy JyuJyu’s “Kumo no ito” at your favorite retailer on February 13, 2018.
