Back with more support for their upcoming album is the trio DEVIL NO ID and their new promotional video for “Sweet Escape”. This offering comes without the SciFi of “Survivor“. Manga page starts us off before the girls take over with their performance in a darkened room. The Karin, Hana, and Mion get cat ear head ornaments on this dance shot with lights and images superimposed over the frame. This styling gives the group a more youthful appearance as they sing sweetly over this more pop-oriented EDM offering. The beat still pumps, and the keyboard still electrifies, but “Sweet Escape” gives us nicer melodies and a hooky chorus to sink our teeth into. Of course the song’s vocal performances have a healthy amount of processing, but I think that comes part and parcel with DEVIL NO ID. In any case, I enjoy this side of the group as I cannot live on hard beats alone. “Sweet Escape” is the fifth track on the debut album from DEVIL NO ID, “Devillmatic” in stores now.
DEVIL NO ID is a group formed in 2016 from the Okinawa street scene. DEVIL NO ID’s music mixes idol music with EDM, Bass Music, and Hip Hop. The visual concept is that of three devils; illustrator Utomaru draws a manga project in parallel with the music production. The project “DEVIL NO ID” crosses cultures and performs different color media mixes. DEVIL NO ID’s current lineup includes members Karin (カリン), Hana (ハナ), Mion (ミオン), and illustrator/graphic designer Utomaru.
