The school idol / virtual idol booms keep coming with the latest promotional video from 22/7 (Nanabun no Nijyuuni). The Akimoto Yasushi (AKB48) project to bring you dimension-crossing idols have their second single “Shampoo no nioi ga shita” due in less than a month. If you expected some film of Amaki Sally, well you’ll have to go elsewhere since “Shampoo no nioi ga shita” is an animated length of film. Some really nice looking zooming and scaling is at play as the 22/7 girls transform winter into spring and back into winter during the course of the PV. If you give the song a chance, you’ll be treated to a year’s worth of memories set around the school as the seasons are gorgeously (and conspicuously) animated. Meanwhile, the melodies play out in sextuplet rhythms over an orchestral backed accompaniment. Owing partly to the animation and partly to the arpeggiating pianos, there is more than a bit of magic in “Shampoo no nioi ga shita. In fact there is enough magic to melt the snow and bloom the pale pink petals of the old tree in the courtyard. You can buy 22/7’s sophomore single in stores on April 11, 2018.
