One of the more enigmatic groups in the current idol scene today, the dots release a new promotional video for “Kimi ni Ochiru Yoru” from their debut album “「 」”. Though the members are wearing their identity concealing visor, we get a chance to learn a bit more about each member and differentiate through this PV. “Kimi ni ochiru yoru” doesn’t offer a whole lot in its video concept: the members take turns singing solo and small group lines with a midnight background that matches the color of their dresses. Overlays and projections of a starry sky and a nighttime windshield POV break up the monochromatic video. The music moves a quick pace with synth basses and futuristic keyboard leads taking the bulk of the arrangement. Even if dots look like the idol equivalent of the Borg, they execute some interesting vocal layering and harmonies. Dots come across as a “love it” or “leave it” concept, but hopefully this PV shows that the group has more to offer.
