From reviews to news to opinion pieces and everything in between. If you have a passion for writing about idols or Japanese culture and are looking for an established platform on which to publish your work, New School Kaidan wants to be that platform. Conversely, if you’re a new or less experienced writer looking to get your start, we’d also love to work with you too.

Desired skills: Solid grasp of the English language, experience with WordPress backends, interesting things to say.

NSK is looking for translators to fill a variety of different roles on the site. These can range from fun things like translating entertaining 2ch threads and news articles to more serious tasks like liaising with management from various idol groups. Our openings are not just limited to Japanese translators although this is currently a priority. If you have skills translating Chinese or Indonesian we would also like to hear from you.

Desired skills: Minimum intermediate language proficiency, ability to write in polite form.

Graphic Designers

Your job as a graphic designer at NSK will involve creating images for a wide variety of our operations. This can be simple things like custom images for articles and general site graphics all the way up to more complex projects like stream overlays and content for video features. Being able to follow a design outline as well as provide your own creative input is a must for this role. Interested parties should supply examples of their work.

Desired skills: Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator or equivalent.

Overseas Correspondents

Being primarily based in North America, our ability to cover the plethora of live idol concerts and events happening in Asia is incredibly limited. Your role as an overseas correspondent is to be our eyes and ears on the front line. Reporting on events that you attend, your experiences at live concerts, what’s going on in the overseas fandom, the list is almost endless. If you have an awesome experience that you want to share with the fandom then NSK wants to help you get it out there.

Desired skills: Solid grasp of the English language, experience with WordPress backends, interesting things to say.
